17TH CENTURY POET SELÎMÎ AND HIS MASNAVI NAMED NAZM-I NESEB-I NABÎ

Classical Turkish poets have tried to prove their love and respect for the Prophet by producing many works in verse and prose in his praise. These works generally belong to favoured literary genres such as naat, mawlid, hilye, siyar, miraciye, forty and hundred hadiths. The work subject to this study is in the genre of nesepname, of which there are few examples. Nazm-ı Neseb-i Nebî is a masnavi of two hundred couplets. The work, in which the Prophet's pure lineage is praised chronologically, is written in a didactic and tahqiyyevi style in order to inform the reader. The Masnavi belongs to Selîmî who lived in the 17th century. In the introduction part of the study, after giving information about the concept of lineage, examples of poems written about the Prophet's lineage in classical Turkish literature are mentioned. In the first chapter, information about Selîmî's life is given. In the second part, the work Nazm-ı Neseb-i Nebî is analysed under the headings of form, language and style and content, and the prominent features are stated. In the third part, the critical text of the work prepared on the basis of two copies is given. In the conclusion section, it is emphasised that the masnavi, which is the subject of the study, is the first detached work written in Turkish in the genre of nesepname according to the available information.

Klasik Türk şairleri Hz. Peygamber’e olan sevgi ve saygısını, onun övgüsünde çok sayıda manzum ve mensur eser ortaya koyarak göstermeye çalışmışlardır. Bu eserler genellikle naat, mevlit, hilye, siyer, miraciye, kırk ve yüz hadis gibi çok tercih edilen edebî türlere aittir. Bu çalışmaya konu olan eser ise az sayıda örneği olan nesepname türündedir. Nazm-ı Neseb-i Nebî adlı eser, iki yüz beyitlik bir mesnevidir. Hz. Peygamber’in temiz soyunun kronolojik olarak övgüsünün yapıldığı eser, okuyucuya bilgi vermek amacıyla didaktik ve tahkiyevi bir üslupla yazılmıştır. Mesnevi 17. yüzyılda yaşamış Selîmî’ye aittir. Çalışmanın giriş bölümünde neseb (soy) kavramı hakkında bilgiler verildikten sonra klasik Türk edebiyatında Hz. Peygamber’in nesebine dair yazılmış şiir örneklerinden bahsedilmiştir. Birinci bölümde Selîmî’nin hayatı hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. İkinci bölümde Nazm-ı Neseb-i Nebî adlı eser şekil, dil ve üslup ile muhteva başlıkları altında incelenerek öne çıkan özellikler belirtilmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde ise eserin iki nüsha üzerinden hazırlanan tenkitli metni verilmiştir. Sonuç bölümünde ise çalışmaya konu olan mesnevinin, mevcut bilgilere göre nesepname türünde müstakil ve Türkçe olarak kaleme alınan ilk eser olduğu vurgulanmıştır.
