Bu seyahatnamelerin isimleri şunlardır: Stephan Gerlach, Türkiye Günlüğü, Michael Heberer von Bretten, Osmanlıda Bir Köle, Jean Thevenot, Thevenot Seyahatnamesi, Joseph De Tournefort, Tournefort Seyahatnamesi, Jean-Baptiste Tavernier, Tavernier Seyahatnamesi, Salomon Schweiggeri, Sultanlar Kentine Yolculuk, Philippe du Fresne-Canaye, Fresne-Canaye Seyahatnamesi, Reinhold Lubenau, Reinhold Lubenau Seyahatnamesi, Nicolas de Nicolay, Muhteşem Süleyman'ın İmparatorluğunda; Jean Chardin, Chardin Seyahatnamesi.

IS THE CITY OF ISTANBUL OF INCOMPARABLE BEAUTY FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF OTHERS?, pp. 119-131

The Seyahatnames (Travel Books) are of importance from the aspect of the timeframe in which they are found, the history, culture, traditions and customs, economy and most importantly, the information given about the geography. They are also works that have extreme value from the aspect of transferring this situation to the present-day through the treasury of science and culture in periods where possibilities were scant and limited and technology had still not developed. The suitability of the location in which Anatolia is found, the favorability of the geographical conditions and the proportion of many diverse opportunities, drew the interest of travelers and was a much-frequented point for many travelers. Especially, with the conquest of İstanbul in 1453, the boundaries of the empire expanded a lot and this situation increased the popularity of Anatolia even more by travelers and they toured many cities in the Anatolian geography, both with the intention of becoming acquainted with the empire and for many diverse reasons. Among these, besides the cities, such as Edirne, Bursa and İstanbul, which served as the capital city of the Ottoman State, many cities, such as İznik and İzmir, were the stopping places of travelers. In our study, we will attempt to examine carefully İstanbul, with its other names of Constantinople and İslambol, from the perspective of travelers, which no doubt has served as the capital city of many large states and that has had many laudatory poems and poems composed and that are still being composed on its behalf. We will attempt to set forth the perspective of travelers and while examining carefully this situation, by also including in our study the negative situations confronted by travelers besides the beauties of İstanbul, along with the visible faces of İstanbul we will also bring to light the invisible faces of İstanbul. In our study, we benefited from 11 travel books that we selected as the main resources.
