Yavuz Sultan Selim's Egypt Experience Items Obtained in the Castle of Damascus, pp. 167-189

Yavuz Sultan Selim, who defeated the Mamluk army in Mercidabık on August 24, 1516, entered Aleppo on August 28 and stayed there until September 15, after he appointed Karaca Pasha as the governor of Aleppo and Kemal Çelebi as the judge of Aleppo. After holding the meeting, he took action towards Damascus. The books obtained in the Aleppo fortress were identified and sent to Istanbul. A study on these books was done by us. The Ottoman army came to Damascus via Hama and Hums and the city surrendered with mercy. The Sultan had his tent set up in a place called Mastaba outside of Damascus, and after staying there for 12 days, he entered Damascus on October 9, 1516. The Ottoman army and the sultan stayed in Damascus for about 80 days from September 28 to December 16. During this period, necessary preparations and administrative arrangements were made and then an expedition to Egypt was started. After Yavuz Sultan Selim entered Damascus, the items found in the Damascus castle were identified and a notebook was prepared about it. It is a book that is present in the ruins of Damascus, and the names of the treasury and various items obtained from the castle and their values are stated in the book titled “Defter-i oldur ki Şam kal‘asında mevcud bulunan bunlardır ki zikr olunur.” In this paper, information will be given about the treasures and items found in the Damascus castle and the items they consist of will be revealed according to the documents in the Prime Ministry Ottoman Archives.

YAVUZ SULTAN SELİM’İN MISIR SEFERİNDE ŞAM KALESİ’NDE ELDE EDİLEN EŞYALAR, ss. 167-189

24 Ağustos 1516’da Mercidabık’ta Memlük ordusunu mağlup eden Yavuz Sultan Selim, 28 Ağustos’ta Halep’e girmiş ve 15 Eylül’e kadar burada kaldıktan sonra Halep valiliğine Karaca Paşa’yı, Halep kadılığına da Kemal Çelebi’yi tayin ettikten sonra Şam tarafına harekete geçmişti. Halep Kalesi’nde elde edilen kitapların tespiti yapılarak İstanbul’a gönderilmişti. Bu kitaplarla ilgili bir çalışma tarafımızdan yapılmıştı. Osmanlı ordusu Hama ve Hums üzerinden Şam’a gelmiş ve şehir aman ile teslim olmuştur. Padişah Şam’ın dışında Mastaba denilen yerde otağını kurdurmuş ve 12 gün burada kaldıktan sonra 9 Ekim 1516’da Şam’a girmiştir. Osmanlı ordusu ve padişah 28 Eylül’den 16 Aralık tarihine kadar yaklaşık 80 gün Şam’da kalmıştır. Bu süre içinde gerekli hazırlıklar ve idari düzenlemeler yapılmış, daha sonra da Mısır seferine çıkılmıştır. Yavuz Sultan Selim Şam’a girdikten sonra Şam Kalesi’nde bulunan eşyalar tespit edilmiş ve bununla ilgili olarak bir defter hazırlanmıştı. Defter-i oldur ki Şam Kal‘ası'nda mevcud bulunan bunlardır ki zikr olunur başlığı ile verilen defterde kaleden elde edilen hazine ve çeşitli eşyaların isimleri ile bunların kıymetleri belirtilmiştir. Bu çalışmada Şam Kalesi’nde tespit edilen hazine ve eşyalar hakkında bilgi verilecek ve bunların hangi kalemlerden oluştuğu Cumhurbaşkanlığı Osmanlı Arşivi’nde bulunan belgelere göre ortaya konulacaktır.
