AN EVALUATION ON THE NOVELS THAT APPROACH MEVLÂNÂ AND MEVLEVIYEH IN TURKISH LITERATURE WITH THEIR FUNCTION OF THE SPIRITUAL EVOLUTION, pp. 87-101

While novel, one of the most mature examples of the literary genres on the basis of narration, reflects the reality of life in a fictional way, it sometimes opens its door slightly to history and historical figures. In novels, whose basic material is human, while the author shapes reality on his or her own plane, he or she sometimes chooses to convey this basic material as it is and sometimes chooses to reconstruct it in the free environment that the fiction provides. However, whatever the preference of the authors, the connection of the novel to real life continues to maintain its importance. For this reason, the tendency of novelists to use historical personalities as novel characters is one of the elements worth examining. Mevlânâ Celâleddîn-i Rûmî, who succeeded in calling out to these days centuries ago, is also a rich resource for novelists in this regard. Mevlânâ Celâleddîn-i Rûmî, one of the strongest personalities of the Turkish-Islamic civilization, is a Sufi whose timelessness still continues in both the Islamic geography and the western world with his inclusive ideas and works. Mevleviyeh, which was brought into being systematic by his son Sultan Veled after his death, earned the title of an intellectual cult, which attracts the attention of many circles in almost every period with its tolerance-based understanding of religion. This popularity of Mevlânâ and the Mevleviyeh has not escaped the attention of the authors and poets in the literary field and it has brought poems and novels about Mevlânâ and Mevleviyeh with it. In this study, it is aimed to evaluate those which emphasize the spiritual evolution dimension among the novels about Mevlânâ and Mevleviyeh, which are increasing in number.
