TERME DISTRICT DURING THE TANZIMAT PERIOD, pp. 73-83
This study examines the impact of Tanzimat reforms on the Ottoman periphery in general and in Terme District in particular. Terme, which was one of the districts of Canik Sanjak, had fertile lands. The article presents that the Tanzimat reforms triggered a power struggle among the local power centers in Terme Council for the control of local economy and led to attempts to silence the local dissidents. Despite this struggle, there were visible economic developments in both agriculture and small industry during the Tanzimat Period.

Bu makalenin amacı Tanzimat Dönemi'nde yaşanan değişimin taşraya yansımasını Terme kazası üzerinden ortaya koymaktır. Tanzimat reformlarının uygulanması sürecinde Terme Kaza Meclisinde yerel güç odaklarının iktidar kavgaları yaşanmıştır. Bu kavgalar ekonomik güce sahip olma çabalarını ve yerel muhalefeti susturma girişimlerini beraberinde getirmiştir. Bununla birlikte tarımsal kalkınma ve küçük ölçekli sanayinin geliştirilmesi süreçleri de Tanzimat'ın kalkınma hamleleri olarak görülmüştür.
