Classification of a Poetry Journal in Turkish National Library (06 Mil Yz A 7131) According to the MESTAP, pp. 177-201

Poetry journals, which are valuable references for the history of literature, are the works of anthological characteristics representing the period they were composed in. Just as the poems which are not included in the divan of the poets can be found in such works, many poems or poets without an evident name and fame may come to be known through the journals. In recent years, pioneering works have been done on the development of databases that will allow the classification of journals. The most comprehensive of these studies is the Project for Systematic Classification of Journals, called MESTAP. Within the scope of this project, where the journals are classified based on a common template, many journals have been gathered in a digital database and publicized. The poetry journal discussed in this article is registered in the Manuscripts Collection of Turkish National Library with the archive number 06 Mil Yz A 7331. The detailed content inventory of the 27-leaf journal, into which no study has been performed ever before, was made on the tables prepared within the scope of MESTAP. 76 poems of 36 poets, most of whom lived in 16th century, and 16 poems, whose authors could not be identified, have been recorded in the journal. All the poems in the journal are written with aruz prosody and belong to the poets of classical Turkish literature. Among these poets, Hayâlî (16), Necâtî (12) and Usûlî (5) are the ones whose poems are mostly used. On the other hand, some poems recorded in this work in the names of Rızâyî, Nahifî, Necâtî, and Hayâlî were not found in the published divans of the poets. In the journal, whose leaves are decorated with the patterns of rose, tulip, hyacinth, gazelle, peacock, cypress etc., the most common forms of poem are singular couplet (mufrad), ode (ghazal), and encomium (qasida), respectively. In addition to these poems, the journal also contains three unfinished prose texts.

MİLLÎ KÜTÜPHANEDE KAYITLI BİR ŞİİR MECMUASININ (06 MİL YZ A 7131) MESTAP'A GÖRE TASNİFİ, ss. 177-201
