BİR BİYOGRAFİK KAYNAK OLMASI BAKIMINDAN BAHÂR-I ŞEMSÎ, ss. 87-118

Bahār Al-Shamsī in Terms of Being as a Bibliographic Source, pp. 87-118

This paper deals with the biography holders dates of birth and death, their graves, if any, their cults (tariqah) which were mentioned in Bahār-ı Shamsī by Shams al-Dīn al-Mısrī, the last Shaykh of Bursa Mısrī Lodge. This book is the last of the triple biography series that its author intended to write. The first ring of this series is Gülzār-ı Mısrī, the manāqıbnāma of Niyāzî-ı Mısrī, Shaykh of Mısriyye, the second is Yādigār-ı Shamsī that refers to the zawiyas and lodges of Bursa, the last one is Bahār-ı Shamsī that contains shaykh, scholar (`ālim), poet, mufti, musician, calligrapher, physician, pasha, insane (majzub), notables of city and artists who lived in Bursa after 1846 but autobiographies were not mentioned in other works. Becausef of some reasons such as Bahār-ı Shamsī is closer to modern-day Turkish in comporison with the other biyographic works written earlier than it and its author knows the people in personally who is given information about them, Bahār-ı Shamsī can be shown among the significant vefeyātnāmas in both Turkish literature and tasavvuf.
